Vasu Gounden is the Executive Director of the African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (ACCORD), which he founded in 1992. He is a lawyer, and a globally recognised mediator, and conflict management practitioner. He graduated with an LLM under a Fulbright scholarship from Georgetown University and is admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of South Africa. Over the last 31 years Mr Gounden has been involved in mediation in all the major political conflicts in Africa. He is a regular speaker on global conflict management forums and has addressed the UN Security Council and the AU Peace and Security Council on several occasions. He was elected by the World Economic Forum as one of their Global Leaders for Tomorrow (GLT).
