Mr Nicholas Haysom is currently the Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan. A South African Human Rights Lawyer and Conflict Resolution Practitioner, Mr Haysom worked as the Chief Legal and Constitutional Adviser in President Mandela's office before joining the United Nations in 2005. He led a UN constitutional advice team in Iraq. Since then he has worked inter alia as SRSG and Head of Mission in Afghanistan, Somalia and South Sudan. Between 2007 and 2012 Mr Haysom served as Political Director in the Executive Office of the Secretary-General.
