Katia Papagianni is the Director of the Mediation Support and Policy Department at the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue. She leads the expert and technical support provided to HD’s operations globally. She specialises in the design of mediation processes and has supported multiple mediation efforts in Africa, MENA, South East Asia and Europe. She has previously worked with the United Nations and the OSCE. She writes and comments on mediation, and contributes to senior global gatherings on mediation. She holds a Master’s degree from Princeton University and a Doctorate in Political Science from Columbia University. She has taught at Columbia University and the Geneva Graduate Institute for International and Development Studies, and currently teaches at the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law.
