Jeffrey Feltmanis the John C. Whitehead Visiting Fellow at the Brookings Institution, a Senior Fellow at the United Nations Foundation, and a non-resident Distinguished Fellow at the Asia Society Policy Institute. He has advisory roles with the Berghof Foundation, the Dialogue Advisory Group, and the European Institute of Peace. He serves on governing boards of the Middle East Institute, the American Academy of Diplomacy, and the International Foundation for Electoral Systems. Mr. Feltman was U.S. Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa (2021-2022) and served as UN Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs (2012-2018). As a U.S. diplomat, Mr. Feltman was Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs (2009-2012) and Ambassador to Lebanon (2004-2008). His other postings include Erbil, Baghdad, Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Tunis, Amman, Budapest, and Port-au-Prince.
