Hanna Tetteh is the UN Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia since April 2022. Prior to taking on this role she was the UN Special Representative to the African Union a position she occupied for three years, and before that the Director General for the UN Office in Nairobi. Before joining the United Nations she had served in the Government of Ghana occupying a number of Government positions including Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Minister of Trade and Industry and Member of Parliament for the Awutu-Senya West Constituency. Ms. Tetteh is a Lawyer/Barrister by profession and prior to entering government had worked in corporate law practice in the private sector. She studied at the University of Ghana and graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) in 1989, and also had her post-graduate professional legal studies in the Ghana School of Law. She was called to the Bar in 1992.
